ECO DEPOT EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

​

As Equipment Operator at Solid Waste Eco Depot, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining various heavy equipment, such as loaders, backhoes, skid steers and compactors, to ensure the safe and efficient handling of solid waste materials, DRC and Recycling. You will work as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and will play a critical role in ensuring the proper functioning of the facility. You will assist in ensuring that the site is clean, organized, and safe for staff and all visitors.

 

Some of the responsibilities of an equipment operator are:

•Operate and maintain various heavy equipment, such as loaders, backhoes, skid steers and compactors, to move, load, and compact solid waste materials

•Conduct routine equipment inspections and maintenance checks to ensure that all equipment is operating properly and safely.

•Follow all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe work environment.

•Assist customers with the disposal of other recycling, like oil, small appliances, tires, etc.

•Work with other members of the team to coordinate the movement and disposal of solid waste materials, DRC and recycling.

•Maintain a clean and organized work area (including cribs and piles) to ensure safe and efficient operations, including, but not limited to: raking, shoveling, sweeping and general cleanup.

•Aid other team members as needed to ensure that all tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.

•Fill in for other positions on site as and when needed.

•Complete all required paperwork and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.

 

Requirements:

•At least 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment, preferably in a waste management or similar industry

•Ability to operate various heavy equipment, such as backhoes, loaders, and compactors, safely and efficiently

•Excellent communication and teamwork skills

•Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to heavy equipment operation •Ability to work in all weather conditions and perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods of time

•Valid driver's license.

 

The equipment operator may be required to work on weekends and holidays, as well as before the site opens for the public.

32-40 hours per week
